Join CVE’s Signal and Utility team as a Field Service Mechanic!  We have immediate full-time openings (40+ hrs/wk) supporting critical infrastructure projects along the Wasatch Front.  As a trusted leader in electrical construction since 1915, we’re seeking experienced, reliable mechanics who take pride in keeping heavy equipment and vehicles running safely and efficiently.  If you have strong diesel, hydraulic and electrical expertise, we want you on our team. 

What you’ll do

In this hands-on role, you’ll perform essential maintenance and repairs on a variety of construction equipment and vehicles (e.g. cranes, bucket trucks, excavators, loaders, dump trucks, pick up trucks).

Daily responsibilities include:

  • Diagnosing, repairing and rebuilding equipment and vehicles to ensure optimal performance
  • Performing routing maintenance promptly to minimize downtime
  • Cleaning and servicing equipment during repair processes
  • Maintaining accurate and organized repair logs
  • Helping keep the shop clean, safe and well-organized
  • Assisting with small tool and equipment maintenance
  • Tracking and reporting on outsourced or warranty repairs
  • Following company policies, safety regulations and best practices
  • Taking on additional duties to support team success

What you’ll bring

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • At least 4 years of hands-on experience in heavy equipment and diesel repair
  • Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems
  • A current, valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (CDL preferred)
  • Ability to pass a DOT drug test and obtain a DOT medical card
  • Flexibility to work at the shop or travel to various job sites in a service truck
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, push and pull 50-100 lbs, plus frequent walking, bending, kneeling, reaching and climbing
  • Strong work ethic and reliability
