Project Manager (Civil and Structures)
Cache Valley Electric’s Signal and Utility Division is seeking a full-time (40+ hrs/wk) project manager to oversee commercial excavation construction projects and UDOT structural projects from inception to completion. This position is responsible for coordinating all aspects of these excavation and UDOT sign structure projects (e.g. planning, scheduling, budgeting, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards). Primary duties include, but are not limited to:
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously from pre-construction planning to project closeout.
- Conduct regular site visits to oversee work progress, quality control, and safety compliance.
- Practice and promote safe work practices.
- Provide initial customer contact to assess the scope of work, schedule, and resources necessary to complete the project.
- Prepare a complete estimate for the project with a detailed review of plans, specifications, and bid forms.
- Establish project objectives, policies, and procedures consistent with company policies.
- Maintain all documentation required to track the project’s progress.
- Monitor construction activities, progress, and resources in conjunction with on-site supervision and division management to keep project on schedule.
- Ensure appropriate quality standards.
- Represent the company with owners, architectural and engineering design teams, general contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Prepare, submit, and track project documentation such as submittals, RFIs, close out documentation, etc.
- Estimate and submit change orders.
- Manage financial aspects of contracts (progress billing, rental equipment, income/expenses) to protect the company’s interest and simultaneously maintain a good relationship with the client.
- Implement and manage project cost control strategies.
- Provide accurate forecasting and project control reporting.
- Perform purchasing activities using both structured purchasing programs and company general purchasing department support.
- Conduct regular site visits to oversee work progress, quality control, and safety compliance.
- Practice and promote safe work practices.
Successful candidates will have:
- Strong understanding of excavation techniques, earthwork operations, and construction processes.
- Proven experience in the excavation and construction industry.
- Technical training in excavation and structures. Degree in construction management or civil engineering is a plus, but not required.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and MS Office Suite.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, solve problems, and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in the construction industry.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
