When Cache Valley Electric began in 1915, the first electric refrigerator was just two years old and still cost more than a new car. Henry F. Laub started his small, family-owned business in the rural farmlands of northern Utah’s Cache Valley selling electrical appliances and fixing wiring and electrical problems for local businesses and homes. Just one year later, CVE was awarded its first major contract—the chemistry building at Utah Agricultural College, which is now Utah State University. Building on that success, CVE continued to work on larger, more complex projects. In the early 1940s during World War II, CVE supported the American war effort by installing electrical infrastructures for warehouses, shell loading plants, hospitals and military administration buildings, and earned its first million-dollar-plus contract. In the 1950s CVE gave up appliance sales and residential maintenance to focus on government and industrial electrical projects. At the heart of CVE’s continued success were the core family values on which Henry founded the company: hard work, the highest quality and on-time delivery. Today, under grandson Jim's Leadership, CVE now has a diverse client list that includes national powerhouses like Nucor Steel, Nike, Regent Blue Cross Blue Shield, Marriott, US Army Corps of Engineers, AT&T, and international projects as far away as Thailand and Puerto Rico. In addition to the historical home base in Logan, Utah, CVE now has offices in Salt Lake City, Portland.

CVE hasn’t just grown geographically. The company has also launched a number of successful divisions that address emerging technology needs, making CVE an ideal source for full-service electrical, networking and communications solutions. CVE divisions now include Electrical Construction, Teledata, Design/Build, Security & Controls, Wireless Communications, Network Services, Specialty Projects, and Service.
